Re: Help with Welds
I've had the porous weld problem a few times. It's always been me forgetting to turn on the gas or light surface rust on the rods. It happened once with my mig and it was a bad connection at the machine.

Re: my production springer
Was the video of this build ever posted on YouTube? I just looked but didn't find anything?

Re: Spool gun on Hobart 140
Well I tried running aluminum wire through my gun without replacing the liner. It feed good with no issues.....the weld on the other hand looked like a cat shit on my work piece. Still working to get the settings right.

Looks like their prices have gone down. I'm pretty sure I paid $70 for the large cycle sealer kit.

Re: What would you do?
I would clean and coat it. I found a good deal on a wassel tank and coated it with a KBS product and no issues. It cost more than redcoat but having used both I think KBS is better. The 3 part kit comes with everything to do the tank.

Re: Another leader build
I know this is a really old post but I need to clarify that the motion of the axle on a leafer is always 'upwards' therefore the axle can never 'bottom out' on the rear legs unless the builder makes a horrible mistake with their rocker design geometry. I understand. Jeff mentioned putting the rocke...

Re: triumph frame build
Curt, I know at your pace you have prob finished 20 projects since the triumph frame but I wanted to show you a hardtail I found for the OIF frame. Not sure if you kept the original frame or what your plans are for it but check this out http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a163/heaton22/ken/e184fd69aa1...

Re: Spool gun on Hobart 140
Didn't know you could stick aluminum, will have to look into that. I could just tig the whole thing but I just have foot control and trying to tig while on my back cramped under the bow deck is going to suck with a pedal.

Spool gun on Hobart 140
I bought a small aluminum boat for hunting and fishing (which is why I haven't been around in a while). I'm planning to build a fishing deck and a gun/rod box out of .063" 5052. I will Tig all the welds that will be seen but there's a lot of out of sight welding under the casting deck that I wo...

Re: La Puttana ------Build------ Ride her hard, Sell her Che
First I would like to say this is an awesome build. And I like the detailed pics of the process. As for the SS nuts, I don't think they look like shit, but I think they interrupt the flow of the bike. I'll just say it so we can get the jokes out of the way.......your nuts are too big man! When looki...

Fixing undercutting on a weld
When I built my leafer I had undercutting on the lower leg welds where the tube meets the .5" bar. I haven't ridden it yet bc I haven't found a hub narrow enough to fit that allows for disc brakes, and bc these welds bugged me. I cleaned them up today and made narrow passes above and below the ...

Re: My spirder
If you hold a piece of paper in the centerline of the neck, it looks to have slightly neg trail.... I ran into than on my leafer, when I designed the rockers to run the wheel in front... but mine was 4 to 5 inches... it might be a problem . But you can make rockers to move the wheel back some ... I...
