The tdi starter to a vw type5 (vanagon) adapter is a part you can buy. I have heard claims that it can be made to work on a type1 trans.

The big work such as the chassis is going slow. Just have not had the big time to spend on the big work.

I have about settled on where the body will sit and have started on the body mount perimeter.
