Olite bushings just arrived, I should start the frame build in 2-3 weeks, if everything goes right.
In the meanwhile I've done another render, this time more "classy" look..

Re: Lets do a little powder coating
Another good link for Maz and all the rest European fellas: http://www.electrostaticmagic.co.uk/ I've bought my gun and some powder from them, seems good enough... In the US you can find a really cheap gun at Harbor Freight also. Oh and I'll post some pictures of my home-built propane oven, as soon ...

Re: My girder & frame project - Anything blatantly wrong?
I've got the wheels, the shock the brake calipers and pumps. Oh and I've got the headlight also... All the rest will be hand made (well, at least I will try.. ;) ) I completely agree that from theory to practice there's an ocean (my bender isn't very precise to begin with.. :( ) and rakeNt...

Re: My girder & frame project - Anything blatantly wrong?
I draw it with Solidworks. Solidedge should be another good one, but I've never had a chance to try it personally. Otherwise there is Google SketchUp which is a good choice for a newbie, at a good price also (it's free... - just be sure to download the right version, there is also a paymen...

Re: My girder & frame project - Anything blatantly wrong?
Ok, I'll start from turning the cups and the neck - then I will go on onto girder's tube bending (bending only, just to get some feeling with the bender - they're easier) and then on to build the frame. After this I'll assemble the girder, realise that it isn't right, and then build the second one.....

Re: My girder & frame project - Anything blatantly wrong?
Ok, I'll buy the bushings from the shop posted by Maxthegardener (thanks man :obscene-drinkingcheers: ): they have the size I need, the prices are reasonable and the experience tells me that, thanks to the Royal Mail, I will recieve them before I get the "SKF equivalent" from one of the to...

Re: My girder & frame project - Anything blatantly wrong?
I've seen using the stem nut for preloading also, so I was thinking about using just one nut... sounds too risky? :eusa-think: I will still need the counterbore on top of the upper yoke however.. I've no problems with oil lite bushing, aside from finding them.. Oh, and I wish I had your fab s...

Re: My girder & frame project - Anything blatantly wrong?
Couple more questions about the girder: 1) is it ok to use brass to machine the bushing from, instead of bronze? 2) considering the fact that I have no idea about how much the shock will compress under the bike's weight, do you think that it should be a wieser choice to build the fork a little longe...

Re: My adjustable frame jig
The truth is that this is an extremely peculiar, almost unique, disposable dumbass axle plates holder; you can quite easily fabricate one of these if you just start welding random pieces after a good bottle of Brunello di Montalcino.. I posted the picture anyway, because I've not rebuild it y...

Re: My girder & frame project - Anything blatantly wrong?
That seems reasonable, my only doubt was about some "binding" situation that could occur in some particular configuration.. but maybe I'm just overthinking it all.. :P

Re: My girder & frame project - Anything blatantly wrong?
I could make the shock sit almost parallel to the neck and the girder's front leg by shortening the lower mounts: Girder Shock Parallel.JPG I didn't do that for 2 reasons, the first is that doing this way the mounts would point even more upwards, and I wasn't sure if this would have been a problem (...

My girder & frame project - Anything blatantly wrong?
Ok guys, I was finally able to came away with the solution showed below for my frame and its front end. The frame will accomodate a 4 in-line, 600cc Yamaha unit engine (I will have to replace the airbox with some filter cones to avoid interference with the backbone, but that shouldn't be a problem.....

Re: My adjustable frame jig
Oh it is indeed important, in that it takes away a lot of floor space..
However the legs and the rails are bolted togheter, so that I can dismantle and put it out of the way
Unfortunately my bender didn't came out as nicely.. I'll post some pictures soon...

Don't remermber if I had already posted these on the old board, so I'll post them again anyway... The jig, Crime Scene Choppers style, plus some "racing" stickers, ohh yeeahh! Jig.JPG Axle plates holder: Axle Plates Holder.JPG Neck holder: Neck Holder.JPG Rake protractor detail: ...
