Modifying a double oven

I picked up a double wall oven cheap, so I thought that I would cut the middle out to make a single bigger oven.this is where I’m at now. I have the one element under the floor & will replace the top broiler element for the baking element that was under the floor for the top .Repacked the walls with insulation & sheet metaled the walls shut.I need to bend 2 pieces to wrap around the front, reinstall the seals, make some duct for the fan to get the air moving to the bottom of oven, & whenever I can get to my metal supply, I can get material to make the door. I gonna take the original doors apart to see if I can use the windows in the new door. Well see how it goes.

Got the frame for the door built & the inside skinned. Hole for the window is cut. Didn’t order enough seal, so I’ll wait to put the 2 windows in until it gets here. The studs & empty areas will be filled with insulation.

That's neat! My powder coater built this to coat a 12" over Scout fork for me.

Sometimes has a element in the outer end sometimes not. I think it does gooder. Mot as neat as yours but fast and nasty.

That’s cool...I did a smaller version of that with my other oven. In hind sight I should of added a foot or 2 to the height of this...I always planed on building an oven to hold a frame...one day maybe

Two of those stacked with a removable door seal bar and removable floor for the top would hold a frame with the floor removed and with the floor in it would be great for small stuff.

Door is skinned. I took 2 of the tempered windows from the oven & installed them in the new door. A little air space between the two will help heat lose. The rest of the stuff I needed to cut off is done. The door wound up much heavier than I planned, so I hope the couple strips Of sheet metal left over that I riveted to the sides help stiffen the whole thing up. Need to pick up longer rivets then I can hinge the door, handle & locks.

1st part out of the oven since the mod. Translucent brass over super chrome. The chrome was a real bitch to use, so think I’m gonna try a different brand. I am happy with the color of the brass.

That's excellent! Have you tried Prismatic Powders?

The super chrome is prismatic...translucent brass is Columbia coatings.

Nice job of modifying that oven. The rim looks great.

Have you tried using the translucent brass over clean polished steel?

I've been collecting parts to build an oven. Robbing heating elements and controllers from old ovens.
I'm considering making 2 large sheet metal panels, insulating with fiberglass, and 4 other small panels for the ends, top and bottom, with flanges I can clamp together. I want to be able to change the size of the interior for different parts.
I've seen one with racks with hangers that slide in and out.

I did. Took me couple days but I got it done. I had taken pics of both sides before I took the wheels apart so I could see what the pattern was.
