In search of dry air

I had been struggling to get the air out of my compressor dry enough to start powder coating again. Here is what I wound up doing. A trans cooler off a Ford f250 & pump the air through it with a fan blowing into the cooler.

I picked up a 3 stage filter/separator/regulator.

Then I made a desecant dryer. I'll be changing out the black pvc for some clear tubing so I can see when the desecant needs to be dryed in the oven.

The difference was unbelievable...The head of the compressor is run ning at 260*, the line going into the cooler read 170*, & finally the line coming out of the cooler read 70*.

I got the idea of the cooler off youtube.

1st time I fired up the blast cabinet, it was like night & day. The powder gun sprays so much better too.
