Hello all, Im a newb obviously & want to say hi. Just picked up a '91 Harley sportster 1200 that is kind of started as a bobber project which I hope to finish. The previous owner had electrical issues & got it running but a loose gas hose didn't end well & caught fire for a bit.. bike has been stripped since & im the new owner so I am trying to salvage or start from scratch on the wiring..... So my need is for the most basic diagram or wire harness that I can find. I have removed all circuit breakers & would like to have a fuse box with turn signals. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time.

Most of you already know that I started the Chopper Builders Handbook site so you're probably already familiar with my philosophy on choppers and chopper work.

There are probably two dozen different 'basic' wiring diagrams floating around on the net so can't give any really good recommendations as to which one to use so just search google for basic chopper wiring diagram and then download the one that comes close to what you aim to do. Most likely you'll end up merging together two or more of the diagrams you eventually find to make a loom for your particular bike.

Here man click thru the parts at bottom of the page. It will add each circuit as you go.

- SELF INTRODUCTION: I was on the last board as bonustoolkit. I have changed that to my given name.
I started a project build there " File and Fit." I paln to continue that when I go back home in Dec. 2011. I first joined the board when Gary W had it in the year 2005. That was the time I really gained an interest in building chops. I have a long way to go, compared to some here.

I have the wiring diagram for a 97 Buell/Sporty . I can send it as a zipped pdf file. Has a lot of fine detail in it.

Thanks for the help folks... Honestly that diagram made things worst..lol.. Im uber confused now.. Well as noted I have found several diagrams & have been slowly putting it together. That diagram is way more than what im looking to add on the bobber though. I looked in the link though & it has helped a bit so thank you again. I hope to keep it as simple as possible but with signals cause we need them badly here in the big city..

- SELF INTRODUCTION: Hi Dan, thanks for your time and energy spent on this new board. I hope you will give me a waiver on the email account, I have used gmail so long I don't have a clue what my service provider account is.
I just returned home from a 2 week trip in New Mexico, have a few good pix, can't wait to share my off-highway traveling. Got to put 1400 miles on the scoot.

I prefer to rely on hand signals myself. I think drivers are more likely to see and recognize the arm in the air, than a small blinking light down low.
They are good for night time tho.
