SELF INTRODUCTION: Hello everyone. first of all a big thanks to "Dan the Man". Some of you know me from the previous (2) boards and some don't, so here goes. I have been a fabricator/welder for over 40 years now. Damn that's a helluva long time to do anything! Anyways, I have built literaly 100's of street rods, pro streeters, racecars, bikes and trikes over the years. Never made the headlines and never will. I do what I do because it is the love of my life.
I enjoy reading the posts on the forum and try to contribute when I can. I am sure that this will be every bit as good as the CBH forum, as we will have most of the same folks. Good luck and post a lot of pics!! Jim

Thomas, looks as though you are making some progress. As Maz said visualize what the bike will look like. Just a suggestion here, do as much removal and grinding as needed and then place your motor back in before fabing any tubes. This way you will be sure that all fits and flows together. Looks like you may need a bend in those two brace tubes, hard to tell in the pic.

Hi jimmib, hope things are going good for you. Progress slow but getting things figured out, trying to mount the backbone braces in the same area as the old ones so they should not hit the motor when put back in frame. A little designing to make it look good and be strong i wil figure it out. :D

Taking your time, thinking things through and making lots of cardboard templates is the key to getting things right.... oh yeah, and asking for advice and help when you need it :snooty:

Just remember this is your first build so it ain't gonna go smooth to start with

Keep at it Thomas, we're all here for you :banana-dance:

I guess you're anxious to get everything you need shipped before the snow sets in - at least that way you can be busy working on your project during the winter :banana-dance:

I have been trying to find the best deal for my slugs for the hardtail frame joints. Found a good deal for 3/4" cold rolled steel 5ft long for $30.00 with shipping and taxes.I will just need to take them into my machine shop so they can lathe them down to each tubeing size, i have the insides of tubeing measured and written down so they can be done. :D

Well , i measured my inside of old frame tubeing and new tubeing for the slugs again to make sure of the sizes of slugs i need. I mentioned last post i was going to get 3/4"x5ft but it is not quite big enough so i found 1"x 5ft for $40.00 that should be right for the slugs of joints, of course i will need to get the machined down to each inside tubeing size. Here is a pic of what i am going to buy, hope it is sufficient to slug the frame with. :D
