I was told by a friend that this is where all the real builders are..........So I figured I'd try to fake it.
Pictures speak better than I do.
So just the basics. Its a 2000 V-star 1100. I'm reusing the wheels, engine, and........I think thats it.
Might take me a day or two to catch up, but how about a how it sits now pic first that I took today.

- SELF INTRODUCTION: Hi Dan, thanks for your time and energy spent on this new board. I hope you will give me a waiver on the email account, I have used gmail so long I don't have a clue what my service provider account is.
I just returned home from a 2 week trip in New Mexico, have a few good pix, can't wait to share my off-highway traveling. Got to put 1400 miles on the scoot.

Re: Star
you're faking it pretty damn good man, glad you posted. Love the sculpted look on the tank, and the whole bike is very different.

Re: Star
So this is where I started.
I've owned this since brand new. I've put nearly every mile on it that it has.
Did it up like this about 9 years ago. And then I had to park it for a while.
Let me kids tear it down fathers day.
After I got it to a bare frame, I was jut going to hardtail it and rake it out a little, but things got out of hand..........So I made a drawing.

Then I got to the front end
Started working on a rear fender.
And a tank

More front end work
A sissy bar
Sitting pretty now.
Built some pegs and levers.
And my 13 yo daughter made me some exhaust tips
So we built an exhaust.

Re: Star
Made some grips
Then found out that the bike was in Backtalk........Was real stoked about that.
Then I started looking into The Greasy Dozen, put on by The Old Bike Barn. Its a grass roots build off (anti buildoff?) Didnt make the top twelve, but now they';ve opened up one spot, so I'm hoping, but I'm on the Associated Builders list for sure.
Honestly I think its an awesome concept, so if you like the home built bikes, check it out.......

Since I wanted to be a part, I just wasnt feeling the tank. Felt half assed.
So we cut some new steel.

Well the voting came in, and I got the last spot for the Greasy Dozen.
Havent heard of it?

Or here.

Bear at the Old Bike Barn put this together, grassroots bike building at its finest. Getting away from billet and tribal crap, and back to the core of the way things used to be, and when a spot in the top 12 opened up I jumped on the chance, and today we got word we got it...........Hell yeah.
Rolled it outside for the first time in a long time, now to start putting her back together...........
