I built one prototype frame and built a springer first. then i built a girder. i then had to wait a while build another frame and built a leafer. the first ...

Re: Let's Talk Stem Assy
rudy,
i actually use arbor shims under my dust cap to preload the bearings. and just use on top stem nut. it operates just the same just takes a little longer to set properly but in my opinion they look better with one nut.

Re: Rear Wheel Offset?
when i do them and have all the oem stuff i use it. make an asymmetric frame and call it good. if not wanting to do that...center the tire not the hubs but the tire and make proper spacers to accommodate the new wider space. you are making something that is very wide for no reason. Just use the kick...

Re: Rear Wheel Offset?
you can take the trans sprocket off cut the center out to retain the trans spline pattern. Then lathe a pc of tubing to have the trans spline part fit the ID and the outer sprocket to fit the tubing OD. Then weld and true. The tubing will allow you to get in and tighten the sprocket to the trans.

Re: curts springer build
curt it looks beautiful. the only criticism i can say is i like the look of a spring bridge the is horizontally inline with the lower tree when the bike is weighted and standing up. It looks like your spring bridge may be a little low for my taste. This is one observation i have made of all the &quo...

Re: My Leafer Build
jeff, first thanks for mentioning me. choppers are truly my life and teaching guys about building them is the next best thing. as for tubing remember that the harman girder was made of 1!"x.065 wall tubing. they were able to make them that thin because of the girder leg construction. The design...

Gary's way of cutting thick trees
This is a thread about how to cut thick steel fork trees with minimal tools and even though it looks crude it can produce incredible results if you spend the time to dress and polish the final pieces. To start out you print the tree pattern on some card stock that your printer can handle. All of my ...
