Re: Indian Mark's I swear it'll run someday chop
Well after doing nothing on this for several years I finally got a bu up my ass to get 'er done. Mounted the shifter today. The throw is a bit far so I'll have to tweak that. Otherwise it's about where I want it.

Re: Indian Mark's 1911 build
SONOFABITCH! I crashed the cnc again. Almost the same area. I screw up on a somewhat regular occasion, but I almost never crash the machine. I bought this particular Haas cnc brand new in 2000. I can only remember 4 times actually crashing metal into metal. TWICE on this friggin slide project!! UGGH...

Re: Indian Mark's 1911 build
I finally got some time to get back to this thing. I cut the ejection port on the top, engraved the sides, then machined out what I could on the inside. Then I cut the slot. It's still to tight, but better than too loose. I'll get it back in the cnc and fit it to the receiver.
Then HAVOC struck!!

Sweet. Very clever. I dig that stuff even if it's way more work than people realize. Especially if it's way more work than people realize.

Re: Hello from Albuquerque
Hello from Michigan. Albuquerque is great. A bit hard to breathe until you get used to the altitude. If you look at a rusted piece of metal and see a set of mirrors you're in the right place! Developing skill set takes time, so do what you can when you can. Great guys here (and of course Maz) on thi...

Re: drought
One of the problems (or maybe the blessings) of discussions boards, blogs and general Internet sites is that people have finally caught on to the fact that this digital stuff just doesn't matter and a lot of people are just ignoring the whole 'social media' thing which I think is probably a good th...

Re: Indian Mark's 1911 build
I spent most of yesterday working on this thing. I figured if I didn't get right on it I might just surrender in defeat. It'll probably be at least a few weeks before I can do more on it as I'm falling behind on my actual work.
