It is a little tight but.. however
I do not plan to move the axle to the far end of the plate anyhow, so..

Re: Rear Axle Plates welding?
Well, I thought that considering my axle plates configuration, maybe the weld beads could interfere with the wheel spacers or something..Jeff L wrote:Is there a reason you wouldn't weld both sides?...nice plates btw

Yes, I tend to overthink stuff...

Many thanks to everybody!

Rear Axle Plates welding?
Hi guys, while I was chamfering the rear axle plates, an unexpected question rose up in my mind... Do I have to weld them from the inside also (so that I have to chamfer both sides of the plates), or it's enough to weld them from the outside only? Keep in mind that my plates won't be in the middle o...

Saddlebags completed, you can check them in the sheet metal section of the board if you like.hansgoudzwaard wrote:I checked your saddlebag fab. Nice job. I like metal rather than fiberglass.

Handmade rigid metal saddlebags
Hi guys, some pictures of two rigid DIY metal saddlebags that I made for a friend of mine: DSCF1207.JPG DSCF1208.JPG DSCF1224.JPG You can see more pics here if you like; if you browse the older posts it's also explained how I made them (it's in Italian but it's full of pictures, and I know that you ...

Re: Girder's shafts slack?
Many thanks Gary, now it's perfectly clear.. that I have to machine some new shafts.. :angry-banghead: but luckily I did only 3 of them... BTW, I've never used an adjustable reamer before, for some reason I've had always thought that they weren't any good (not accurate enough, or ju...

Re: Girder's shafts slack?
I'll try to measure the slack with a feeler gauge, but in the meanwhile, if I understand correctly, if I have to push the shaft inside the link+bushing assembly with a little effort, at the beginning the link shouldn't turn as easily as if there was a roller bearing in there, correct? Then with the ...

Girder's shafts slack?
Hi guys, I've fabricated the links for my girder, and the hole in them is a tight fit with the Oilite bushings (I have to put them in place with light taps of a plastic mallet). Instead, I have some slack between the bushings inside holes and the girder shafts... is it acceptable to have some freepl...

"Assembled" steering stem?
Hi guys, I was planning about using some SKF bearings with an internal hole of 25mm (1") for my bike (I've already have them) and place them on an accordingly dimensioned steering stem turned in the lathe from a mild steel 25mm bar, threaded in the upper portion to an M24x3mm to accept the jam ...

Re: My girder & frame project - Anything blatantly wrong?
Hi guys, I've started building some parts for the bike, specifically the girder's axcle plate, and a little doubt hitted my mind... This is the axle&spacers I'm gonna use, taken directly from a Kawa ZX-12R: DSCF0878.JPG And this are the girder's axle "plate": DSCF0879.JPG DSCF0881.JPG ...

Re: Lets do a little powder coating
Big industrial ovens are all gas powered, otherwise it would be very expensive to feed with elettricity..
Mine is something like this, olny horizontal (dont' have any pictures yet..):
