Re: 69 BSA Rocket3... the Unholy Virgin
Man I've been thinking about your distributor set up and I'm not sure how different BSA's are from triumphs but a triumph cam turns half speed of the crank. So you need fire every 120 deg of crank turn, this means if BSA and triumph are the same your distributor needs to fire every 60 deg of turn. T...

Re: 69 BSA Rocket3... the Unholy Virgin
The distributor is electronic.Firing order is just a matter of swappin wires around.Being it doesnt run off any kind of sensor, my thought is that when the spark gets to where its suposed to jump, it will jump regardless of what direction its spinning. It will be awhile yet till I find out if this w...

Re: 69 BSA Rocket3... the Unholy Virgin
Cool. I'm working on putting a Fairbanks Morse from a Wisconsin generator on my Triumph. It started but only ran on 1 cyl because it has 1 set of points and 1 lobe on the rotor. A dual lobed rotor should fix it but I haven't had time to work on it lately. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a163/heato...

It's just like wiring a Harley. I'm not sure if theres an advantage wiring pos ground but like I said, I don't trust myself to remember.

Re: triumph frame build
I know you are on the frame now but when you get to the motor, I highly recommend splitting the cases and replacing the sludge tube. I have built 4 triumph motors this year and all had at least 50% blockage of the tube. When I bought mine the guy said he had the motor rebuilt about 4 years prior. I ...

Re: What gauge wire?
You can wire it neg ground. I didn't trust myself not to wire something backwards on my T140 and smoke everything so I went neg ground.

Re: Tiging Aluminum
I pre-heated with my small propane torch but it has been mentioned that it may not be enough. Someone also told me to use 100% Argon. I have an extra tank I can exchange for 100% but I thought trimix was hotter. What do you use?

Tiging Aluminum
I am planning to weld up the intake ports on my 78 Bonneville so I can drill and tap for a TR7 intake and convert to single carb. I know welding cast aluminum is going to suck so I've been practicing on some nice clean sheets. Thing is, I can't seem to get a puddle on the clean stuff. I sanded the o...
