Made some Brackets...
I didn't like the factory position of the oil filter.
When you changed it, oil would pour out all over the bike, making it more of a mess.

Re: DON'T THROW ANYTHING AWAY........
BOLT2.JPG BOLT1.JPG To align the motor and the transmission with the trany- engine plate (or inner primary), the engine to frame and the transmission to frame bolts all have to be loosened off and the nuts removed. You should be able to move the transmission and the motor around without binding. Po...

Thanks for the write up and the pictures.
I would have had 40 fits with all these set backs.
All the best, and will be watching this and the other posts re. the rebuild.

Re: DON'T THROW ANYTHING AWAY........
To install the sprocket shaft seal, rub some oil on the rubber part of the seal . To keep oil leaks away, apply some Loctite sealing compound # 601 between the seal and the engine case. Using the stator spacer, a PVC 2" coupling, use the hub/sprocket nut and tighten until the seal is fully inse...

These are the part numbers for the new seal and spacer. Note where H/D makes their seals.

INSTALL A OPEN PRIMARY BELT DRIVE.....
I bought a 2" Ultima belt drive last fall. January came , and time to install. The spacer had to come out, and the seal. The Spacer was too wide to accommodate the rotor and engine /trany plate. Drilled four 1/16" holes in the old seal, some 11/2 screws, a steering wheel puller, and out it...

Re: Ultima 6 speed RSD belt to chain help needed
If you have time and a camera, could you document the change over and your sources of parts; would be just great. Thanks .smnmuller907 wrote:Hey guys looking for some information on converting from a belt drive to a chain.

Re: Ultima 6 speed RSD belt to chain help needed
Sounds like you are doing OK.
As long as your engine/trany / motorplate faces are in plane with each other and with your rear wheel sprocket , you should be fine.
I am posting the belt drive picture to illustrate the alignment check, Yours would be on the other side of course.

CHB.JPG Your pics are pretty big. I have an ultima 6 speed LSD; but not a wide tire frame; but I will try to help. The way you state it is.........."" Now I'm about 7/8" off to one side with the rear tire when I mock the wheel up."". Do you have room to shift the wheel.? Ar...

Thanks for the write up and the links.
I have done a bit of online reading about this over the last 6 months. The intent was to turbo my Dodge P/U for more towing power.
The bike links are very comprehensive . You don't need to look very far for more info.
