I am trying to build myself a lift table (see pic -its 9' long so I can fit my chopper on it!)) and I'm running into power issues with my cylinder. I am using a 3" bore - 14" stroke cylinder, but it doesn't seem to have the power to raise the table unless I help it up (which kind of isn't the point!). I have tried to remount it in several locations to improve the angle, but it wont work. I have a 60 gal compressor, so air power source isn't the issue. Could it be that the cylinder isn't big enough? and if so, how big of a cylinder would do it?

the cylinder on my lift is 5 inch diameter its a factory made lift it lifts heavy dressers the frameing on it looks very similar to yours not sure if it helps ya

SELF INTRODUCTION: Hello everyone. first of all a big thanks to "Dan the Man". Some of you know me from the previous (2) boards and some don't, so here goes. I have been a fabricator/welder for over 40 years now. Damn that's a helluva long time to do anything! Anyways, I have built literaly 100's of street rods, pro streeters, racecars, bikes and trikes over the years. Never made the headlines and never will. I do what I do because it is the love of my life. I enjoy reading the posts on the forum and try to contribute when I can. I am sure that this will be every bit as good as the CBH forum, as we will have most of the same folks. Good luck and post a lot of pics!! Jim
You don't say what ram you have, except it is 3" with 14" stroke. Harbor freight has an 8 ton air over hydraulic ram and it will work your table with ease. They run less than $100.00. My tabe will lift an Ultra Glide converted to a trike with no problem using this ram.
