Hi guys
Building a bender to start my first project from the plans on the main site
Started buy printing the plans which are at 1.1 which is great , got 2 copies printed from office works at $3.69 per page
I than cut out the plans to use them as a centre punch map and contact cemented them onto the steel

I used a centre punch to transfer the hole centers and shape to the steel .
Than grabbed the gas axe for a rough cut

Than used the 5 inch grinder and good old Nicholson file and elbow grease to get my final shapes
Next up is to drill my pilot holes in these than transfer the shap and centers to the others needed.
More to come
Thanks you lot for putting so much great info in 1 spot

Well the little project will have to wait until next weekend to finish
As I need access to my dads larger gear head drill press to get these large holes drilled square
So il weld up the stand this week and next weekend some drilling , lathing of pins and a coat of paint

Base plate , some 90 x 90 x 6 , and cut offs from the bender arms

Mmmmmm $80 bucks for a air over hydraulic 8 ton ram
It makes sense as it would be portable as you don't need such a hard floor mount as manual

Looks great!!!
You may think about making a second ratchet bar to install like the new model Jd2 to relive the spring back???
http://www.jd2.com/p-67-model-32-bender-manual.aspx
Here is Jd's explaination of how it works!!
A die locking mechanism was designed that both helps bend thin wall tubing as well as very heavy walled tubing by preventing the die from relaxing when not bending. Springback is the #1 cause of wrinkling thin walled tubing. The Model 32 has been designed for mechanical or hydraulic operation from day one. Its hydraulic swivel block rotates on the cylinders true center axis thereby eliminating side load on the ram during bending. This greatly extends the life of the cylinder. A one piece steel ram yoke with quick disconnect pin is now incorporated as well.
An anti- springback ratchet is now included free with the bender. This allowed us to design a new ratchet lever system with more than a 20% reduction in bending effort.Geometry of the bender itself was altered to take better advantage of the new generation 3 followbars thus yielding better bends.

Very understandable!!!!
I got lucky and bought my Hyd JD2 second hand with stand and dies 1in 3in radius, 1.25in 4.5in radius, and 1.5in 4.5 in radius cheap!!!
I was dreading doing what you are doing!!
Nice work!!!!
