After the rear was stretched, it made the swing arm a little wider so the axle was to small. Made a new new in stainless
. Then a couple of aluminum spacers were made- Attachments

Re: Double shot of Cafe
We wanted something different for the front end, so we got rid of the stock one. We came up with the idea of an inverted springer. A set of trees were made out of wood to see what we needed.
. The stock trees have 2.5" of off set, ours has 1", cause the rest & possibly a little more will be made up at the rockers. Aluminum trees were cutChanging the shape of the Earth...1 bucket at a time...IUOE local 825 top of the food chain

1.5" tubing is used for the upper part of the forks
. The lower portion will be thinner like they would be on a inverted hydraulic front. Wanted a real clean look without pinch bolts. The forks will attach to the bottom of the trees. these will be welded to the forks then bolted to the tree- Attachments

- SELF INTRODUCTION: So,...I guess I'm a newb. Can I get my "General Smart-Ass" moniker back, or do I actually have to build something. Like a chopper for example. I am hoping to re-start a build that's been sitting in my shop for a couple years with most of the parts already acquired.
Just wanted to thank Dan and anyone else involved in getting this board up and running.
Dan is a personal friend of mine and one of the finest people I know. I have a world of respect for him, not just for his work here but also for reasons beyond this forum.
Not sure if that's 200 words, but that's my intro and I'm sticking to it.
BTW, I'm Mark. Not Indian, just a fanatic of the motorcycle brand.

- SELF INTRODUCTION: I was on the last board as bonustoolkit. I have changed that to my given name.
I started a project build there " File and Fit." I paln to continue that when I go back home in Dec. 2011. I first joined the board when Gary W had it in the year 2005. That was the time I really gained an interest in building chops. I have a long way to go, compared to some here.
Re: Double shot of Cafe
Nice project, you are way ahead of me on your thinking. This will look great. You have room for a fairly big back tire?

The seat posts are in the way for the split tanks we plan on building, so the had to be moved.
After they were cut out, slugs were made & installed. . New tube was bent & welded in plce . They will attach to a false back bone (easier than cutting out the original) that will hold the starter switch, a few other switches & maybe the hi beam & neutral lights. The tank will be home to the tach & speedo. Also started on the brake stay & we cut off some brackets to clean up the frame a little.Changing the shape of the Earth...1 bucket at a time...IUOE local 825 top of the food chain

Got the shape of the false back bone & tank pretty much set.
, The tank will wind up being a little lower than it is in the pic, cause I did a little more trimming after the pic was taken.Changing the shape of the Earth...1 bucket at a time...IUOE local 825 top of the food chain

Try to work on them every day, but often looking for or waiting for parts. Nothing stock going on here, all hot rod street oriental, and mostly old style.

The upper tubes finally got cut down, & lowers fitted in. Shocks should be herein a week. Then I can figure out rocker shape, mounts for shocks, & make the slots for the rockers.

The lowers were remade to add more meat at the bottom. Slots are cut. Gonna make up the rockers & shock mounts in wood this weekend.
